MONROE - Monroe Police are still investigating an accident involving a child and a mini van, which occurred at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 15th Avenue and 18th Street.According to police, a 2007 mini van, driven by Brenda J. Breault, 36, Monroe, was northbound on 15th Avenue. The driver slowed to allow Anna G. Latimer, 9, to cross the street as she stood at the corner of 18th Street.When she did not immediately cross, the van proceeded.Latimer reportedly then ran forward, looking only to the opposite direction, and was subsequently struck by the mini van's side mirror, according to a police statement.Breault stopped. The girl said she was not hurt.
