Donald R. Lane, age 81, of Monroe, died on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at his home. He was born on March 5, 1934 in Argyle, the son of Hervey and Gladys (Gavigan) Lane and graduated from Argyle High school in 1952.

Donald served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 - 1960 during the Korean War. He then went to college for 1 year, graduating from Barber School.

Donald and Barbara Coleman were married on January 27, 1962 at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe.

Donald was a Barber from 1962 - 1971; he then was custodian for Monroe School District for over 30 years.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Football; playing softball, card's, and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children: Lori Lawson, Scott Lane, Lisa (Brian) Gumtow; all of Monroe, grandchildren: Kyle Gumtow and Kendra (Andy) Robbins.

He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Richard, Hervey and Gene; and grandchild, Jason Bechtolt in 2005.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave., with Monsignor Larry Bakke Celebrant.

Visitation will be Monday, February 22nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
