Darrel Lavonne Silbaugh, 86 passed away peacefully at Pine Valley Community Village, Richland Center, WI on June 3, 2017.
Darrel was born at his grandparent's log home on December 4, 1930 rural Boaz/Richland Center WI to Walter L. and Wilma M. (Nevel) Silbaugh.
Darrel married the love of his life, Helene Marlene Bollerud on November 5, 1950. Together they raised six children. Darrel was a lifelong farmer priding himself on having a grade A dairy herd. In 1961 he received an award for starting a conservation plan, eventually converting 121 acres to contour strip crop farming. After retiring, home was not where the couple could be found as they were enjoying many trips traveling in their motor home, staying at state parks. Darrel and Helene spent many Sunday mornings as greeters at the Hollandale Lutheran Church.
Darrel is survived by their six children: Susan Wilson, Eugene (Jeannie) Silbaugh, David (Diane) Silbaugh, Diane (Mohammad Kasraian) Silbaugh, Janice (Charles) Beranek, Mary Spencer, Edward Kabare (AFS student).
Eleven grandchildren: Matthew Wilson, Rebecca (Adam) O'Morrow, Daniel Silbaugh, Stephanie (Caleb) O'Morrow, Corey (Jessica) Silbaugh, Emily (Zach) Brewer, Angela (David) Kehl, Christina Beranek, Heidi (Ronald) Brandt, Heather (York) Ragen, Jeffrey (Michele) Minder.
Twenty-four great-grandchildren: Bethany, Ethan, Katherine, Joel, Laura, Nathaniel, Felicity, Margaret and Timothy O'Morrow, Sophia, Jack, Levi and Daniel O'Morrow, Draven Silbaugh, Macy, Lainey and Charles Brewer, Alyson, Bodie and Garrett Minder, Seth and Hans Brandt, Lily and Kylie Ragen.
Helene's siblings: Edith Kitchen, Shirley (Robert) Fisher, Henry (Mary) Bollerud, her sister-in-law, Judy Bollerud and many other family members and friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his wife Helene Silbaugh, his sister Ruth Egger, brother-in-law Albert Egger, brother-in-law Leonard Kitchen, brother-in-law Karl Bollerud, son-in-law Jeffrey Spencer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Hollandale Lutheran Church (New Hope Lutheran), Hollandale, WI. Rev. Michelle Elfers will officiate. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
