BELLEVILLE/NEW GLARUS - Cloyance "Clancy" Zentner, age 87, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on June 12, 1922 to his parents Casper and Kathryn (Duerst) Zentner in Belleville. Cloyance graduated in 1940 from Belleville High School, and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. On August 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to the former Joan Schmelzer in Madison at St. James Church. Cloyance owned and operated Zentner's Restaurant in Belleville for over 30 years. He also worked for J.C. Penny's and the New Glarus Hotel along with operating a floral and wedding catering business. Cloyance was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ and former member and council member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. He was also a member of the Duppler-Smith American Legion Post in Belleville, the 40&8, Belleville Community Club. Cloyance also loved his many dogs over the years. Cloyance was a loving and caring man, and would send cards, floral boquets, and casseroles to those in need of comfort.

He is survived by his daughters Kay (Don) Hale of Beloit, WI and Jane (Jeff) Fairchild of Mauston, WI, four grandchildren Jamie (Nicole) Ladwig of Elroy, Jason (Sarah) Ladwig of McFarland, Melissa Ladwig of Mauston, and Jennifer Fairchild of Madison, five great-grandchildren Taylor, Noelle, Logan, Alex, and Carlee Jo, and a sister-in-law Sylvia Zentner of Belleville.

Cloyance was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jo, and a brother John.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 5th Ave., New Glarus WI with the Rev. John Jewell officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI
