MONROE - More serious charges may be brought against a Rockford woman involved in a fatal crash over the weekend, but the Green County district attorney is not making a decision until the crash investigation is done.

Maquita Q.C. Stokes, 30, faces a tentative charge of driving while intoxicated.

"We have no timetable for reviewing the case or making a charging decision," said Gary Luhman, district attorney.

Green County deputies, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the state's Crime Lab continue to investigate the head-on collision that occurred south of Brodhead shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

"When their investigation is complete and the matter is referred to our office, we will make a decision on appropriate charges," Luhman said.

The crash killed the other driver, 81-year-old Antone C. Grawehr, Browntown. He was driving a Dodge Caravan. His passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Stokes was flown by helicopter to a Rockford hospital, where she remained as of Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 13, according to Sheriff Jeff Skatrud.

Her two passengers in a Chevy Trailblazer were also taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
