MONROE - Herb and Helen Haydock, collectors of "breweriana," will be on hand this weekend for the grand opening of the Herb and Helen Haydock World of Beer Memorabilia Museum at the Minhas Craft Brewery Tour Center and Museum, Monroe.
Nestled in the oldest brewery in the Midwest, the Haydock collection includes hundreds of brewery advertising artifacts, including lithographs and prints from the mid-1800s to the 1950s and 1960s.
The Haydocks have put together a showcase of their collection for viewing, hundreds of model cars, trucks and trains; an extensive tap handle collection; and a collection of growlers from around the world.
The grand opening is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Haydocks will be present during the event to answer questions and share their stories. The museum is free and open to the public. For a small fee during this grand opening, visitors may sample beers in the Lazy Mutt Lounge adjacent to the museum.
Brewery tours will be offered at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $10 and includes a tour of the brew house and the bottling plant, an opportunity to taste several of the beers on tap as well as other beers and soda and a memorabilia glass to take home.
