DARLINGTON — Police in Darlington continue to investigate a weekend stabbing that left one man injured and another facing attempted murder charges.

According to police reports, the incident began just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, when they received a report of a disturbance in progress at a residential home on Main Street. Darlington Police Chief Jason King said the suspect and victim were acquaintances but did not live in the same home.

As a result of the disturbance between the pair, a victim was stabbed and transported to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County by Lafayette County EMS, where he was treated for wounds that police said were “serious but not life-threatening.”

He was no longer hospitalized as a Monday, the chief added.

The suspect who was arrested is Higinio Tlaxcaltecatl, 33, of Darlington.  He was jailed on tentative charges of attempted first degree intentional homicide, police said. Tlaxcaltecatl remained in jail Monday as of press time on a $20,000 bond.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation, which is ongoing, according to King.
