Monroe pool will open June 1

MONROE - The Monroe Outdoor Pool is set to open on Tuesday, June 1, with special hours. Those hours will be 5 to 6 p.m. lap swim and 6 to 8 p.m. night swim. On Friday, June 4, regular hours begin which are Monday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. lap swim; and 6 to 8 p.m. night swim. Saturday and Sunday hours are 1 to 5 p.m. afternoon swim; 5 to 6 p.m. lap swim and 6 to 8 p.m. night swim.

The Wading Pool hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The Wading Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday on the following dates: June 14-July 1, July 6-23 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday from July 26-August 6.

Season swim passes are available at the Parks and Recreation office. A family swim pass is $88 for residents and $101 for non-residents. Six family members are allowed on a pass, for each additional member it will be an additional $5.

A family may add a babysitter onto their family pass for an additional $10. An individual swim pass is $48 for a resident and $61 for a non-resident. A senior citizen swim pass is $40 for a resident and $53 for a non-resident. A senior citizen couple swim pass is $70 for residents and $83 for non-residents and a family wading pool pass is $65 for residents and $78 for non-residents.

If you purchase your pass by 4:30 p.m. on June 4, you will receive a $5 discount.

The definition of family is the immediate family living in the same household, including elderly parents with family/children, couples not married, and/or foster and/or step children and/or foreign exchange students living under the same household, as well as families with joint placement arrangements.

If you have two families living under one roof (ie. brother and his kids, sister and her kids - they will need to purchase their own pass.) Verification with a tax form may be required if information is questioned.

Daycare providers may purchase a season pass for their daycare business, but will need to purchase a separate pass for their family. The children on your daycare pass must attend at least 25 hours per week and can only swim under the daycare pass.

Openings remain for June and July swim lessons. These lessons are held in three week sessions Monday-Friday, June 14-July 1 or July 6-July 23 from 10:10 to 10:50 a.m. at the Monroe Outdoor Pool. The cost of these swim lessons is $35 per child for Monroe residents and $45 for non-residents. You must provide the transportation. We also have openings in the two week swim lesson session which will be held Monday-Friday, July 26-August 6 from 11 to 11:50 a.m. at the Monroe Outdoor Pool. The cost of these lessons is $28 for Monroe residents and $38 for non-residents.

Parent and Child Instruction is for children up to 4 years old and have little or no previous experience in water adjustment lessons, are reluctant to enter the water or submerge, require floatation support at all times and benefit from parental presence and support in the water.

Parent/Child Level A is for children 6 months to 4 years and will be held from noon to 12;30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 28-July 2. Cost is $14 for residents and $24 for non-residents. Parent/Child Level A is a program for parents and children. Level A is for children who are 6 months to 4 years old and have either no water experience or one previous session of water adjustment lessons.

Parent/Child Level B is for children 2 to 4 years and will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 19-23. Cost is $14 for residents and $24 for non-residents. Parent/Child Level B is a program for parents and children. Level B is for children who are 2 to 4 years old and have had two or more previous sessions of water adjustment lessons, submerge only reluctantly (or not at all( or require floatation support at all times.

We also have Preschool Swim Lessons openings in the following sessions:

Skippers 1: noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 14-June 25 or July 5-16, for children ages 3-5 years old. Cost is $24 for Monroe residents and $34 for non-residents. The objective of Skippers 1 is to focus on water adjustment, safety and basic swimming skills. Skills: Submerge mouth, nose, and eyes, water entries and exits and water safety.

Skippers 2: 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 19-30 or from noon to 12:30 p.m. July 26-August 6 for children ages 3-5 years old. Cost is $24 for Monroe residents and $34 for non-residents. The objective of Skippers 2 is to begin development of fundamental swimming skills. Skills: Submerge entire head, perform assisted kicking on front and back, float on front and back without support.
