Downtown bench dedication
Downtown bench dedication
Lori Countryman (standing, center) donated funds to Main Street Monroe to install a new bench downtown. It’s dedicated to her father, Franklin D Countryman who loved visiting Monroe — from wine tasting at Minhas to the Main Street Cars on the Square events.  It was unveiled Saturday, Nov. 13, ahead of what would have been Franklin’s 86th birthday on Nov. 16. Friends and family attended with Lori. Pictured are Dorothy Manis, grandson Caleb Countryman, daughter Tracey Watson, granddaughter Megan Watkins, sister-in-law Sandy Stephenson, niece Brandi Sutherland, Steve Puls, Elizabeth Gable, and Maggie Wiederholtz, all from Rockford. Main Street Monroe’s volunteer design committee is responsible for, owns, and maintains all downtown benches.
