Concert planned for March 25

MONROE - A free concert will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, March 25 at Monroe Bible Church. Music lovers have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of fine symphonic and jazz music by the Colorado Christian University wind ensemble and "Mainstream," a big band jazz group. Donations will be accepted for the school of music.

The concert will feature a variety of music from classical to light popular to sophisticated jazz, with sophisticated jazz, with symphonic band standards performed by the wind ensemble and jazz favorites by Mainstream. This event is a part of a 9-day tour that takes these ensembles throughout the Midwest.

Colorado Christian University is an interdenominational, evangelical Christian liberal arts university with about 3,000 students.

Wiota

Fire dept. to host dance Saturday

WIOTA - The Wiota Firemen will be having its annual St. Patrick's dance, from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Wiota Schoolhouse with music by the Fever River String Band.

There will be door prizes and refreshments will be available. This is the fire deptartment's annual fundraiser to make money to buy equipment.

The event is open to the public.

MTG to host Play-in-a-Day for youth

MONROE - Monroe Theatre Guild will host Play-in-a-Day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 26.

The class will be held at the MTG building and taught by Susan Nanning-Sorenson. Designed for ages 7 to 14, students will learn and perform a new rendition of the classic fairy tale "Rapunzel," complete with costumes and props.
