An Evening with Gladius

DARLINGTON — The Driver Opera House will present An Evening with Gladius, a Guitar Virtuoso at City Service Brewery (404 Main Street, Darlington) from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 for an evening of entertainment.

City Service Brewery is the host because the Driver Opera House is currently closed due to the much-anticipated elevator being installed. Therefore, all Driver-sponsored events are located at local venues throughout the community of Darlington. They are fortunate of their partnership with City Service Brewery to assist with showcasing Gladius.

The marketing of this Driver Opera House event is funded by a Dubuque Racing Association Marketing Grant (DRA).

Born Andrew Connors, raised in Atlanta, pupiled by Andrés Segovia’s protégé, and driven to obsession by Eddie Van Halen — Gladius is an award-winning composer and accomplished classical/flamenco style guitarist who soulfully “shreds on the electric,” according to critic Phil Keaggy. He shares the bill with Grammy winners and mesmerizing audiences nationwide with his electrifying live act since 2016. Becoming Gwinnett County Georgia’s first ever recipient of the Gwinnett Superstar award in 2022, he released the infectiously catchy Air to critical acclaim in 2023.

He fell in love with music and the guitar when he was 10 years old.

“Of the presents received that Christmas, I can only recount one: an old Argentine classical guitar. The antique wasn’t the finest of instruments, but it played and that was all that mattered,” Gladius said.

Since that time, he has evolved as an entertainer, taking his audience on a soulful and introspective journey throughout 700-plus exhilarating concerts to date to feature his vibrant stage presence.
