Monroe runs at Midwest Invitational

JANESVILLE — The Cheesemakers got a feel for the large mass of runners at a sectional meet this past weekend, taking part in the 48-team Midwest Invitational at Blackhawk Golf Course in Janesville on Sept. 26.

Monroe’s boys team finished 20th overall, while the girls were 15th.

Ace Rossing led the boys team with a 45th overall finish (16:40.6). Weston Huntsman (17:19.9) was 103rd, Landon Smith (17:28.6) 117th, Eli Phillips (17:30.4) 123rd, Isaiah Ritschard (17:47.1) 149th and Lucas Veeder (18:45.4) 232nd.

Braylin Cleary paced the girls team, finishing 32nd overall with a time of 19:26.1. Nevaeh Huenefeld (20:25.0) was 71st, Annika Folk (20:57.5) 96th, Alivia Mosher (21:11.1) 116th, Elizabeth Veeder (21:27.0) 124th, Kaylen Cassidy (21:27.7) 125th and Lyla Ritschard (21:55.0) finished 144th.

Darlington girls win Fennimore Relays

FENNIMORE — Darlington, Belleville and Albany took part in the Fennimore Golden Eagle Relays on Sept. 26, with the Redbirds crowned girls team champions with a total time of 108:27.1.

Darlington’s Alaina McGowan finished first overall with a time of 19:19.5 to lead the way, with Brianna Vazquez (20:48.7), Addison Black (22:30.5), Austia Stauffacher (22:43.3) and Elizabeth Gruetzmacher (23:05.1) all scoring for the Redbirds.

Belleville (132:12.3) was sixth and led by Kate Hendrickson (22:24.1).

Albany’s Emersen Butts was ninth overall (21:59.0) and Diem Briggs was 16th (22:48.6).

On the boys side, Albany’s Kamden Broughton was 10th overall at 18:13.4, with teammates Brooks Wachholz (19:02.8), Brodyn Bakken (19:10.3) and Noah Lisser (19:13.2) all finishing in the top 23. The Comets (95:14.1) finished fourth.

Darlington was paced by Marcus Kendall (12th, 18:28.7). The Redbirds (106:51.1) were seventh as a team.

Belleville was led by Carson Biermeier (15th, 18:43.0). The Wildcats (105:29.3) were sixth.

PDC Invite

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — Argyle/Pecatonica took part in the Prairie du Chien Invitational on Sept. 24, with the boys team taking third overall. Platteville won the meet with Lancaster second.

On the boys side, AP’s Ayden Slater was eighth overall at 18:54.5, while Mitchell Johnsen (19:18.9) was 10th, Kaleb Baumann (20:37.4) 18th and Tristan Olson (21:12.3) 23rd.

AP’s Sophie Howard was the first runner across the finish line for her team, finishing 20th overall with a time of 24:38.3. AP’s girls team didn’t have enough runners to count towards the team score.

Duck Pond Invite

FONTANA — Brodhead/Juda’s girls team won the Duck Pond Invite on Sept. 24, scoring 59 team points, just ahead of Parkview (87). The Brodhead/Juda boys team was seventh out of 11 teams, with Shoreland Lutheran taking the team title with four of the top five runners in the meet.

Olivia Brooks was the first Cardinal across the finish line, taking fourth overall with a time of 21:12.8. Teammate Rachel Hatter (21:15.0) was seventh, Ryleigh Brown (23:28.5) came in 15th, Ciarrah Condon (24:13.4) was 20th, and Avalynn Plummer (24:49.2) and Quinn Burchard (24:50.0) finished 27th and 28th overall.

On the boys side, Ashton Henze (19:21.7) paced Brodhead/Juda, taking 21st overall. Treyton Leutenegger (19:48.7) was 33rd, Jameson Lenthe (20:21.8) 43rd, Oliver Mertens (21:24.6) 61st and James Jeffers (21:32.5) 63rd.
