To the Editor:

Each and every day the media tell us that Covid cases are surging, even with vaccinations, because of the Delta variant, and that vaccinations are the key to overcoming the virus along with mask usage. 

And yet, day after day, the WI State Legislature appears to be content with letting Wisconsinites suffer and die with this terrible disease, instead of empowering state, county and local officials to take the actions necessary to help residents be safe.

The status quo isn’t working. Every time a mandate is issued, it is taken to court on the basis that it is not allowed by state law. 

Let’s work together to pass a law to let them fulfil their responsibility to keep us safe. When the pandemic has passed, the law can always be changed back. 

But something needs to be done NOW. The question is: what will you, our legislators, do to help save us all?
