MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers showed patience in getting a 7-2 win over the Platteville Hillmen in nonconference softball on Monday, April 13.

The Cheesemakers grabbed a 1-0 lead with a single run in the second inning, but the Hillmen jumped ahead 2-1 with two runs in the fifth.

Monroe broke through with six runs in the sixth inning to pull away. Paizley Kundert went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Annika Folk was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and scored a run in the sixth inning for the Cheesemakers. Ivie Ellenson also knocked in a pair of runs for Monroe. Jade Tran was 1-for-3 with a single, an RBI, and a run scored.

Kaegann Paulson pitched all seven innings for Monroe, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.

Monroe (7-2) was scheduled to play Delavan-Darien in a RVC-Valley game on Tuesday, April 14 and a nonconference game at home against Madison Memorial on Friday, April 17.

Brodhead 11, McFarland 5

BRODHEAD — Sophomore Mady Henning pitched a complete game and clubbed a home run to lead the Brodhead Cardinals to an 11-5 win over the McFarland Spartans in nonconference softball on Monday, April 13.

Henning gave up five runs on nine hits, walked two, and struck out six. The Cardinals had a 1-0 lead after two innings, but pulled away with four runs in the third and four more runs in the sixth. Elise Rear went 2x4 with a home run and three runs batted in.

Kinsley Krumwiede drove two runs with two doubles while Karli Krumwiede accounted for two RBIs on two hits.

Brodhead (4-0-1, 3-0) had an RVC-Rock game scheduled on Wednesday, April 15 at Turner and another conference game at Clinton scheduled on Thursday, April 16 before hosting Mount Horeb in a nonconference game on Friday, April 17.

Monticello-New Glarus 17, Pecatonica 1

BLANCHARDVILLE — Molly Olson scored four runs in the first four innings and Heidi Olson scattered four hits to lead the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies to a 17-1 win over the Pecatonica Vikings in four innings on Monday, April 13 in Six Rivers Conference action. Malorie Miller, Mabel Jordan, Annie Olson, and Eliza Legris each scored two runs to lead the Monticello-New Glarus attack.

Katelynne Jorenby led the Vikings by going 2x2 with an RBI. Jenna Kurschner was 1x2 with a double.

Monticello-New Glarus (6-0, 3-0) will face Barneveld at home on Monday, April 20. Pecatonica (1-5, 1-2) had a Six Rivers Conference game scheduled on Tuesday, April 14 at home against Argyle followed by a conference game on the road at Potosi-Cassville on Friday, April 17.

Juda 6, Potosi-Cassville 4

POTOSI — Juda-Albany went on the road on Monday, April 13 and came home with a win over Potosi-Cassville, 6-4 in Six Rivers softball action.

Reegan Schmidt, Emersen Butts, Ryleigh Brown, Anna Bartels, Emerson Briggs, and Aubrey McCullough each got a hit for Jubany with Brown driving in two runs.

Briggs got the win in the pitching circle for Juda-Albany, giving up three runs, two earned, five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Brown got the last four outs pitching in relief for Jubany.

Juda-Albany (4-1-1, 2-1) traveled to Barneveld for a Six Rivers Conference game scheduled on Friday, April 17 before hosting the Juda-Albany Triangular with games against Clinton and Palmyra-Eagle on Saturday, April 18.

Evansville 9, Belleville 6

EVANSVILLE — Brooklyn Maves of Evansville hit a grand slam and drove in five runs to power the Evansville Blue Devils past the Belleville Wildcats in nonconference softball on Monday, April 13.

The Blue Devils scored single runs in the first and third innings before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, including Maves’ grand slam to pull away.

Brynlee Shirley, Bryn Prochaska, Jocelyn Raven, and Sophie Fossum each drove in a run for Belleville. Prochaska led the Wildcats with two hits in two at-bats.

Belleville (2-5, 0-2) had a Capitol South Conference game as home against Marshall on Thursday, April 16 followed by a nonconference game at Edgerton on Friday, April 17.
