Welcome back to my weekly e-update! With my victory on election day I was re-elected to serve another two-year term in the State Assembly.
The New 51st Assembly District includes all of Iowa and Lafayette Counties as well as portions of eastern Grant County including Blue River, Cuba City, Hazel Green, Montfort and Muscoda. The new area of my district also covers portions of western Dane County, including Mt Horeb, the Town of Vermont and Blue Mounds.
I have already enjoyed meeting so many of my new constituents and learning more about the new areas that I represent. I always strive to represent everyone in my district and I pride myself on my ability to reach across the aisle to create commonsense solutions.
Connecting with my constituents is the best way for me to achieve these results. That is why I always encourage anyone to reach out to my office with their questions or concerns or to set up a meeting with me to work on important issues that matter to southwest Wisconsin.
You can find more information on the new districts, including information on your new state legislator at the link here. And of course please feel free to contact my office if you have any questions on the legislative districts or need assistance contacting your new legislator.
Happy Hunting
Nov. 23 was the Opening Day for the gun deer hunt season in Wisconsin. The 9 day season is annual tradition here in Wisconsin unlike many others. Nationally recognized as one of the country’s premier states for hunting white-tailed deer, Wisconsin has both an abundant herd and a reputation for producing some of the largest bucks in the world.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website offers an extensive list of resources and tips for hunters, including hunting hours and regulations, CWD testing info and many other important tips and resources.

Capitol Christmas Tree
Last week, the annual Christmas tree was delivered to the Capitol. This year the tree was donated from a Wisconsin family in Rhinelander.
Governor Evers announced earlier in November that the theme for this year’s Christmas tree is “Celebrating 125 Years of Wisconsin’s State Parks”. As part of the celebrations, students students throughout Wisconsin are encouraged to create handmade ornaments that reflect what the Wisconsin outdoors mean to them.
Ornaments should be mailed to:
Emily Gorman
Wisconsin Department of Administration
Division of Facilities and Transportation Services
17 West Main Street, Suite 119
Madison, WI 53703
Students are asked to make ornaments from non-breakable material. They must be strong enough to hold up during shipping and to be handled while the tree is being decorated. It is recommended that students do not use fragile items or paper cutouts that may tear easily and that ornaments are 4-6 inches in size and are made from a color that contrasts with the color of the tree so they can easily be seen and enjoyed by all visitors. Please attach a ten-inch loop of ribbon or string from which each ornament will hang.
If you have any questions about an ornament, please contact the Facilities Management Information Center at (608) 266-1485. Please note that ornaments will not be returned.
