Hello, everyone! My name is Marissa Vosberg and I am your 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen from Monroe. I am the daughter of Phil and Laura Vosberg. My reign as the 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen is coming to an end. My year has been a very interesting year, to say the least. When I decided a year ago to run for Monroe Dairy Queen, I was really looking forward to experiencing the Green County Fair, the Wisconsin State Fair, World Dairy Expo, and Monroe’s Cheese Days as a Dairy Queen. Little did I know last year in June that the COVID-19 pandemic would continue for another year and would change our lives forever.
Because we were in a pandemic, you might think that my schedule for Dairy Queen events was pretty light, but I realized while looking through photos for my scrapbook that I participated in and accomplished many, many things this past year in my role as the 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen. The pandemic couldn’t stop me from being an ambassador for the Ag Chest to promote Green County and Agriculture!
Here’s a summary of what I was busy with: I was in seven parades, attended and spoke at seven Ag Chest meetings, announced and handed out awards at two dairy cattle shows, and handed out awards at a horse show. I also served cheese at a rabbit show, served ice cream at the Green County Beef Producers’ Steak-Out, handed out cheese and ice cream at three golf outings, and served ice cream at Woodford State Bank’s Customer Appreciation Day. I also participated in three activities for the Monroe Park and Rec Department with young children, made zip-top bag ice cream with the children at two day care centers in Monroe, and read an agricultural story to Northside and Parkside Kindergartners virtually plus dropped off ice cream treats for them to enjoy. I was able to work in the Ag Chest Trailers selling ice cream, cream puffs, and grilled cheese sandwiches many, many times. In addition, I delivered ice cream to the Green County Sheriff’s Department for the staff to enjoy, served cheese at a local sportsmen’s banquet, handed out milk at Farm & Fleet’s Grand Opening, made Christmas ornaments (with my Mom) for all of the residents of Pleasant View Nursing home. I also sold cream puffs at the Ag Chest’s Valentine’s Day Cream Puff Sale where we sold out in just over an hour, plus I got to help make and bake the cream puffs. However, the “crowning” event has to be the Green County Breakfast on the Farm at the Fairgrounds this year. I was so excited and thankful that the breakfast was able to happen this year! What a fantastic event! It was so great to see so many familiar faces enjoying a tradition that has gone on for 41 years, well not last year, of course. So, as you can see, I really was quite busy this past year as your 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen and I treasure every minute of it.
In addition to all of the wonderful events and activities I had the honor and pleasure to participate in, I met and got to know ten girls that I probably would not have had the opportunity to meet. The other girls who make up the 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Royalty who served with me this year have become life-long friends whose friendship I will treasure forever.
In closing, I would like to give my thanks to the Green County Ag Chest for this wonderful opportunity they have given me. Everyone involved with the Ag Chest has been so supportive of me this entire year. I would also like to thank Rae Reeson who Chairs the Green County Dairy Queen Program. Rae does an incredible job keeping us Queens busy and she is amazing while doing it! I would also like to thank my parents, Laura and Phil Vosberg for their love and their continuous support of me in my activities, but especially for all of the running around and getting me where I needed to be as the 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen. Lastly, I would like to thank my hometown of Monroe for all of the support you have shown me this past year, first as the 2020-2021 Monroe Dairy Queen, then as the 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen.
Although my reign is ending, I ask you to please continue to support the Green County Ag Chest, as well as all of our friends and neighbors who are in the Agriculture industry. They need your support now more than ever. And for the final time, this is Marissa Vosberg, your 2020-2021 Green County Dairy Queen.
