Young’s home run lifts Brodhead
Teams prepare for postseason with extra games

JUDA — Brodhead and Juda-Albany faced off in a season-ending showdown on Thursday, May 18, where Mckenna Young’s solo home run was the lone run of the game. The two teams were slated to play each other to open the season, but poor weather and packed schedules pushed the game back.

Juda-Albany, ranked No. 6 in Division 5, held its own against Brodhead, ranked No. 2 in Division 3. Panthers’ starting pitcher Avary Briggs gave up just one earned run on four hits. She struck out seven Cardinals and walked just one. The defense gave up one error. At the plate, Briggs recorded the only hit.

Ava Risum started the game for Brodhead, going three innings. She gave up the lone hit but struck out four batters. She didn’t issue a walk. Young threw four innings of relief, striking out eight batters.


Feller hits walk-off 

MONROE — With an RBI single from Olivia Feller in the bottom of the seventh, Monroe completed the comeback victory over Waunakee 6-5 on Thursday, May 18.

Sophie Golembiewski and Katie Witt recorded multiple hit games, while Roidt had a team-best two RBIs. Kaegann Paulson picked up the win, giving up two earned runs on five hits. She struck out five batters and walked three.


Pecatonica falls in regular-season finale

BELMONT — Pecatonica prepared for the postseason with a game against No. 5-ranked Belmont on Friday, May 19. The Braves scored in all but two innings to secure the 7-3 victory.

Diana Hendrickson remained hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run scored. In the last three games, the sophomore has gone 8-for-10 with nine RBIs. At leadoff, Trinity Gruenenfelder hit a two-RBI double. Chloe Schraepfer suffered the loss, scattering 10 hits for three earned runs.
