WISCONSIN DELLS — Darlington’s Josie Thomas finished 17th overall at the WIAA Division 2 girls golf sectional at Trappers Turn Oct. 5. Her teammate Laura Weaver was 48th.

Thomas, a senior, shot a 49 on the front nine and a 51 on the back for an even 100. Weaver, a junior, struggled on the back nine. After shooting a 59 on the front, she carded high scores of 12, 11 and 14 on the back nine en route to a 73. On the full 18-hole round, Weaver had a 132.

Arcadia-Independence senior Hallie Tulip and Jefferson sophomore Payton Schmidt topped the leader board with an 82. Ava Heckman of Lakeside Lutheran earned the final open spot to the state meet after shooting an 88.
