BELLEVILLE — The Sugar River Raiders improved to 4-0 on the season with a 6-0 win against Dodgeville in a nonconference game Tuesday.
Jaden Kreklow had two second half goals and added an assist to help lead the Raiders. Connor DeLorme opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Charlie Douma made it 2-0 just a minute later off a pass from Kreklow.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Sugar River got three goals — Justin Knoebl connected on a strike off a pass from Jack Gentilli in the 46th minute, then Kreklow scored a minute later on an assist by Owen Odegard, and then in the 48th minute Kreklow scored another to make it 5-0. Jack Nolden scored in the 77th minute to cap the scoring for Sugar River.
“Strong performance by the boys tonight,” Raiders coach Kyle Webber said. “Some nice linking play between the defenders and our midfielders. We got some nice goals from our senior players. It was fun to watch the boys play with each other.”
Julian Lutz had two saves for the Raiders, and Dylan Posthuma came on as a sub and had another save. Sugar River out-shot Dodgeville 34-6 and 24-3 on goal. The Raiders also had five corner kicks while Dodgeville had none.
Sugar River was scheduled to play Dodgeland-Hustisford Thursday and will be at Lake Mills Sept. 11. Monroe’s game scheduled for Tuesday at home against Reedsburg was postponed due to flooding in the Reedsburg area. The Cheesemakers also had a scheduled game Thursday at Whitewater and is hosting Evansville today.
