The Argyle-Pecatonica Golf Team shot a score of 352 to finish in seventh place out of 15 teams in the annual Dick McKichan Invitational held Saturday April 19 at Platteville Country Club.
Senior Alex Ruetten shot a 76 for second place, one shot off the pace behind leaders Owen Purdin of Oregon and Cole Herbst of Platteville. Avari Steiner was tied for 18th with an 86 Junior Cohlman Schlimgen was 36th with a 91. Schlimgen won the Long Drive Competition held after the tournament was completed.
“Alex played another really solid round with that 76. He probably should have won the event but had some bad luck early in his round,” Argyle-Pec coach Chuck Chandler said. “We were the smallest school size by enrollment in this event with several D1 teams entered but I was still hoping for a top 5 finish.”
Senior Olin Johnson was the top golfer for Darlington with an 83. Mitchell Martin was tied for 18th with an 86. Taggart Gille was tied for 49th with a 96. As a team, Darlington finished in 10th place.
