MONROE — Melissa and Gary Burch are the owners of Bountiful Hope Farms in Monroe; established in 2009. Their goal is to make sure that anyone in need of food has available and fresh produce through their local food pantries.
On the morning of Saturday, Sept. 26, the Young Americans 4-H Club helped harvest a field of winter squash to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin as a community service project. This gave 4-H members a chance to show leadership, teamwork, and strengthen connections with other kids and community members. The kids got to learn a lot about how agriculture works, why it is important, and how it helps locals come together and work to make it happen. In the end, it was all about bringing food to those in need.
