HIGHLAND — Black Hawk senior Colby Argall entered Week 8 just 37 yards away from breaking the school’s career rushing record of 3,462 set by former teammate Brody Milz.

It’s safe to say that the record is now all-Argall.

The Warrior running back blitzed past Highland’s defense all night to the tune of 293 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries, leading his team to a 36-12 victory and the Six Rivers crown for the season.

Argall opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 1-yard plunge into the end zone and added a 5-yard score before the half that helped put Black Hawk ahead 16-0 at the break.

In the third quarter, quarterback Kyle Lovelace ran it in from 7-yards out to make it 22-0 before Highland’s Spencer Linscheid responded with a 20-yard TD pass to Drew Hennessee. Argall then burst free for a 43-yard score to make it 30-6 before Hennessey sent a pass Linscheid’s way from 10-yards out.

Argall capped the scoring in the fourth with a 2-yard touchdown run.

The Warriors (7-0, 6-0) finished the night with 373 yards rushing on 40 carries while holding Highland to 84 yards rushing on 30 carries. Highland (4-4, 2-4) was 14 of 30 passing for 167 yards.

Black Hawk’s final game of the regular season is against Shullsburg (3-5, 1-5) in Week 9. A win would give Black Hawk an outright conference championship while a loss would allow Pecatonica-Argyle (7-1, 6-1) a co-championship. Black Hawk beat Pec-Argyle 8-6 in Week 4. Pec-Argyle defeated River Ridge in Week 8 20-6 and plays Hurley in a nonconference game in Week 9.

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights used a 23-point first half to put away the winless Pirates in Week 8.

Siegenthaler added another one-yard touchdown run and then threw a 5-yard TD pass to Trevor Gassman to make it 23-0 at the break. Also scoring for the Glarner Knights was a safety on a tackle by Nathan Streiff.

In the third quarter, Darris Schuett punched in a run from six-yards out to make it 29-0 with 7:24 left in the frame. Waterloo scored their only touchdown with 3:36 left in the third. Siegenthaler later threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Strok with 5:09 left in the fourth for the game’s final score.

Schuett finished the game 5 of 13 passing for 87 yards while Siegenthaler was 4 of 5 for 26 yards. Schuett had 60 yards rushing to lead the way as the Glarner Knights collected 222 yards on the ground and 335 yards of total offense. The NGM defense held Waterloo to just 83 yards in the game.
