Argyle sweeps rival Pec

BLANCHARDVILLE - The Argyle volleyball team kicked off the Six Rivers Conference season by sweeping rival Pecatonica 25-16, 25-19, 25-15.

Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier had seven kills and 21 digs to lead the Orioles.

Argyle sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson had 18 assists.

"Our service receive was tough," Pecatonica coach Tori Leonard said. "We just couldn't pass the ball to set it up. It was just too deep of a hole to get out of."

Pecatonica's Britt Miller had three kills, five aces and three blocks.

Sami Miller added four kills for the Vikings, which dropped to 0-3, 0-1 Six Rivers East.

Pecatonica's Liz Tisch had five assists and Clara Moen added four assists. Teammate Lexi Phillips had two digs.



Barneveld 3, Juda 1

JUDA - Barneveld's Rachel Slaney had a big match, but Juda went to four sets before losing to Six Rivers East Conference power Barneveld 24-26, 25-20, 28-26, 25-14.

Slaney had 19 kills to lead Barneveld.

"I'm extremely proud of how my girls played," Juda coach Scott Anderson said. "We were aggressive in our attack. We lived up to our mantra as a digging team.

"It's a good step for our program. One or two points in that second game and anything could have happened. Barneveld is a very good team and we played them tough. The girls can feel this hurt. That is good because we are turning things around."

Juda senior Morgan Adkins had six kills and a team-high 26 digs. Juda's Alexis Goecks had 24 digs and Sara Jordan had six kills. Sophomore Chelsea Burkhalter had eight aces and six assists. Megan Powers added six assists for the Panthers.

The Panthers first three conference matches are against Barneveld, Argyle and Monticello. Each one finished ahead of the Panthers in the conference last year.
