Rosalie J. Miller was born on January 20, 1938 in Monroe, Wisconsin; the daughter of Ernest and Rose (Klassy) Studer. During the summer and weekends while in High School she worked as a Nurse's Aide in the Obstetric Department. Sister Laura and Marilyn Cashman encouraged her to go into nursing and it was here that she developed her love for her profession. Upon her graduation from High School Rosalie was accepted and trained through the Saint Mary's School of Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse in the fall of 1958. Following graduation, Rosalie returned to Monroe and worked as a nurse on the surgical floor at Saint Clare Hospital. On February 28, 1959, Rosalie married Urban Miller at St. John's Church in Monroe. The couple resided in Brodhead for a brief time. The Miller's have been residents of Janesville since 1959. Rosalie worked for the Janesville Medical Center for 14 years; in her retirement she enjoyed her volunteer work at Mercy Hospital. She also volunteered at the Janesville Senior Activity Center where she taught porcelain doll making for many years. Over the years Rosalie spent time painting for the Rotary Gardens. For more than 50 years she was a faithful member of Cargill United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the Church choir. Rosalie is survived by her dear husband of 65 years, Urban Miller; sons: Jeffrey (Constance) Miller, Scott (Patty) Miller and Philip (Jill) Miller; daughter, Rebecca (Robert) Lyons; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Rose Studer; brothers, Nathan and Fred Studer; and her grandparents, Fred and Barbara Studer.
