Michael D. Halvorsen, age 30 of New Glarus, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at his home. Mike was born on March 22, 1990 in Madison, the son of Robert Halvorsen Sr. and Joyce L. Lehnherr. He graduated from New Glarus High School and most recently worked for Western Landscape. Mike enjoyed his family and friends, helping others, and had a gentle soul. He struggled with addictions for many years.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Halvorsen of New Glarus; his father, Robert Halvorsen Sr. of Monroe; his daughter, Charlie Pepper Halvorsen of Monroe; five siblings, Danetta (Dan) Crawford of Winnebago, IL, Randy (Lori) Halvorsen of Monticello, Rob Halvorsen of Twin Grove, Sarah (Marc) Kruse of Greenville, S.C., Becky Flesher of Portland, OR; paternal grandfather, J. Donald (Sue) Halvorsen of Monroe; Charlie’s mother, Lizzie Maurer of Monroe; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marilyn Halvorsen; maternal grandparents, Harold and Thelma Lehnherr; and two uncles, Jon Lehnherr and Randy Halvorsen.
Private services will be held at Washington Reformation United Church of Christ with a public celebration of life to be held at a later date. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
