Lois Jean Nath
Lois Jean Nath

Lois Jean Nath, age 88, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 while surrounded by her family.

Lois was born on September 1, 1935 to Jay and Freda (Stillwell) Nyman of Durand, IL.  Lois married Howard L. Nath on September 12, 1953 in Pecatonica, IL.  For 59 years they farmed side by side.  Along with being a full time farm wife she had many talents – she had awesome cake decorating skills along with whipping up a full meal with cake or pie for dessert within minutes for company or farm helpers that stopped in, as there were many.  She had an open door policy at all times.  Oh, and don’t forget BINGO….there was always time for that and anyone who wanted to hop in her van to go!   Casino day trips were also a great time, win or lose.

Lois retired from Wal-Mart in Monroe after 25 years. She made many close friends while working there.  Lois most enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Spending weekends at Grandma’s house was the best!

Lois is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Howard of just weeks short of 71 years.  Together they have 4 children, Russell (Donna) Nath of Dane, WI, Roland Nath (Peg Jensen) of Footville, WI, Rita (Mike) Foulker of Monroe, WI and Roberta (Todd) Morrison of Monroe, WI; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Long of Durand, IL and DeMetra Larson of Durand, IL and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Maurice “Butch” Nyman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in her memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aster Assisted Living in Monroe and also to the staff with SSM Hospice of Monroe for all the care they provided to Lois when she needed it most.

Funeral services will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead, WI on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM  A visitation will also take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  Burial will conclude later that day at the Stateline Cemetery.
