Lawrence H. Marty, age 73, of Monticello passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 surrounded by his family at home.  He was born on March 28, 1950 the son of John and Irma (Baebler) Marty.  He was a graduate of Monroe High School; in his younger years he was active in 4-H and Peace United Church in Christ in Browntown.  Larry was united in marriage to Kathie Montgomery on July 24, 2008.

Larry was born into the cheesemaking industry, growing up in the Davis Cheese Factory in Browntown; which led to him becoming the youngest licensed Cheesemaker in the state. For many years, Larry dedicated himself to the cheesemaking craft, in Green County. His career continued in Ohio, where he expanded his expertise to potato chips, while also owning and operating a tavern. After returning to Wisconsin, he owned The Chateau in Monticello and founded Uncle Larry's (Red Dot) Potato Chips in Brodhead. Larry eventually transitioned to truck driving, where he worked for Flying Eagle, Amerhart Trucking, and Dunwiddie Trucking in Monticello where he worked until his retirement in October 2022. 

Larry loved to cook and was known for how good his cooking was.  He was an avid supporter of the Monticello Ponies, Badgers, and Packers. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards with friends especially Sheepshead. Larry had a passion for rock ‘n roll music and muscle cars, he had recently purchased a 1951 Tudor. He was very proud of his Swiss Heritage.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathie; children, Laura (Jim) Klitzke, Brigette Marty, Matthew (Kathleen Schultz) Marty, and Desiree (Robert) Alexander; step-children, Jodi Benson, Josh (Jen) Montgomery, and Jesse Montgomery; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; and his dog Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Paul Marty, Sherry Lynch, and Barb Nelson; and his loyal companion, his dog, GG.
