Gene L. Hendrickson

Gene L. Hendrickson, age 89 of rural Blanchardville, WI passed away Monday, August 15, 2022, at his home in rural Blanchardville. He was born May 2, 1933, at St. Claire Hospital in Monroe, WI the son of Guy and Faye (Flannery) Hendrickson. Gene grew up in rural Argyle, WI where he attended Everson School in rural Blanchardville and farmed with his family. He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Wahl on June 28, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Together they moved to Monroe, Wi where they lived for a year until moving to rural Blanchardville where they farmed and later moved to the home farm where they have resided since.

Gene is survived by his wife Mary Jean at home; his children: Timothy (Wendi) Hendrickson of Blanchardville, Kim (Loreane) Hendrickson of Argyle, and Vicki (Rodney) Olson of Blanchardville; his grandchildren: Rachel (Jeremy) Meudt, Jon Hendrickson, Jessica (Ryan) Kurschner, Jeremy (Sara) Hendrickson, Aaron Olson, Michelle (Fritz) Mueller, Michael Olson, and Tori Olson; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother Dean Hendrickson in 2015; and one sister Betty Hendrickson in infancy.

Gene was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church a branch of St. Isidore Parish in Blanchardville. Alongside working on the farm, Gene spent 4 years as a Lafayette County Deputy and worked for Blanchard Township as an employee for 3 years. When he wasn’t working, Gene liked to hunt and fish and always enjoyed going out West to hunt for Mule deer with his family – most of the time in Wyoming. In his free time, Gene enjoyed woodworking, playing cards (Horse & Pepper and Euchre), and always enjoyed his time on the dance floor with Mary Jean at Turner Hall in Monroe. Gene cherished the time he spent with his family – especially his grandchildren creating memories they will all cherish forever. Gene always said, “3 kids are good, 8 grandchildren is better, but 11 great-grandchildren is best.”
