Together they farmed in Jordan Township and raised 5 children.  Beverly was heavily involved in 4-H as a leader and Green County Fair superintendent for many years. She always encouraged/made her children complete their record books! Record keeping and notes was her specialty. She held various leadership positions with community activities.  She was skilled at cooking from scratch, gardening, canning, raising and butchering chickens. For her spending money she sold eggs to the county jail and her neighbors. She worked elections for many years in Jordan Township.  She taught numerous girls how to sew.   Many considered her to be a master pie baker. Pecan and fruit were her specialties. Beverly won honors at Jordan Lutheran church where she was a member for many years for the highest selling pie at the Harvest festival. Those pies and cookies were also fan favorites at local bake sales.   She was also involved in Green County Homemakers for over 70 years. Her favorite pastimes were dancing, puzzles and playing cards, mainly euchre.  After moving to Monroe in 1997 she continued to arrange rides or walk to play cards as she never had a driver's license. She became involved with the Moose and played cards weekly.  She continued to live independently until the age of 91 at Churchill apartments, then living at Heartsong assisted living facility in Bellville. After leaving the farm she was very active in adding to her “HERD” collection of cow creamers & paraphernalia. She would regularly get her hair done on the square as much as possible.   She also enjoyed talking on the phone and sending hand written cards to family and friends with beautiful cursive penmanship.
