     Agnes L. Legler, age 89 of New Glarus, formerly of Monroe, died Sunday, June 9, 2024 at New Glarus Nursing Home. She was born on December 16, 1934 in Dakota, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Gladys (Marty) Keener. After the death of Howard, Gladys married Sam Goecks, and he played a large part in Agnes’s life.  She graduated from Monticello High School. Agnes married Virgil Leuzinger on November 16, 1952 in Monticello. She later married Harold Legler on December 16, 1989. She worked as a Secretary and Bookkeeper for Monroe Credit Bureau for many years, and later became a CNA and worked at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Agnes was a member of Washington Reformation Church and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, baking pies, eating ice cream, but most of all spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always lit up her face.

     She is survived by her daughters: Terri (Ed Stroup) Joyner of Alma, CO, Lauri (Phillip) Gutzmer, and Wendi (Guy) Thoman, both of Monticello; a brother, Eugene (Janet) Keener of Monticello; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-children, Raymond (Ruth) Legler of Monroe, Vickie Huston of Monroe, Sherrie Pschannen of Monroe, and Cindy (Arturo) Rodriguez of Batavia, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, step-sister, Florence Ott, and step-brother, Curly Goecks.

     Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Pastor Kelly Volk officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood cemetery, Monroe.
