MONROE - Green County Fair Board president Sam Kaderly crowned the 2013 Fairest of the Fair during the Breakfast on the Farm Saturday, May 25.
She is Theresa Wyss, a 2008 Monroe High School graduate finishing up her student teaching in art in the Monticello school district. She graduated this spring from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in art education.
Runner-up Kristin Klossner, New Glarus, who graduated from UW-River Falls in 2010 and works for the Wisconsin State Fair.
Tess Zettle, the outgoing Fairest of the Fair, said Saturday the highlight of her year was an encounter she had with a little girl she met last year at the Green County fair. The girl, 8-year-old Lily, showed a pig at the fair.
Over the winter, Zettle ran into Lily again at a hockey game and asked her if she remembered meeting at the fair.
"You're Tess. You're the Fairest of the Fair," the girl told her.
Zettle was gratified to have made an impression even when she wasn't wearing her sash. "It totally made my year worthwhile. I think I made her realize how fun the fair is."
