MADISON — During an April assembly floor session, Rep. Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville) spoke on Assembly Joint Resolution 12 (AJR 12), a resolution he authored with Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) to honor the life and service of former Assembly Chief Clerk Patrick Fuller who passed away on January 30, 2025.

Patrick Fuller, a resident of Ridgeway, was a decorated United States military veteran, serving for over 25 years in the United States Marine Corps and Army before retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Following his retirement from military service, Fuller joined the State Assembly where he served as Chief Clerk for over 20 years, presiding over the administrative functions of the legislative body.

“I am deeply honored to bring forth this resolution honoring Patrick Fuller, who was not only the chief clerk, but a constituent, and friend of mine,” said Novak. “Chief Clerk Fuller, was a great man, committed to public service, and protecting those he served and his family. I am so grateful for his service and the friendship that we developed throughout his tenure in the assembly.”

Joining Rep. Novak at the capitol were Chief Clerk Fuller’s wife Cheryl, a retired faculty member at UW-Platteville specializing in Criminal Justice, his son Sam, a US Army veteran and Lafayette County Veteran Service Officer, and grandson Nik, an eighth grade student at St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

“I want to especially thank, Cheryl, Sam and Nik, who are here today to honor a great man, veteran, public servant and revered member of our community.”
