Delores “Lori” Ann Sawdey, age 84 passed away peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, September 10, 2026. She was born to Walter and Marguerite (Stauffacher) Schlaff on September 18, 1941. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1959, married Gerald E Sawdey, Jr. in 1960 and was nearing their 67th wedding anniversary. Before retiring, she was employed for nearly 30 years at St. Clare/Monroe Clinic as a Pharmacy Technician.
Family meant everything to her. She loved going to various grandkids events and took many trips with her husband and siblings. Her door was always open, welcoming all to their home, making room for anyone who wanted to come stay, or even reside. Family holidays at their home were always special and filled with happiness. She was an avid bowler and attended many state and national tournaments. She always looked forward to her luncheons with her pharmacy gals and the fireman bunch. She was strong in faith and a long-time parishioner of St John’s Catholic Church, South Wayne. Beyond mass, she devoted much of her time to cleaning, decorating and prepping for church activities. Lori loved reading and enjoyed collecting books by Danielle Steele.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Stephen Sawdey, Brenda Wright, David (Jodi) Sawdey, Tricia (Ted) Hoch; grandchildren, Ryan, Kristin, Erika, Carter, Payton, Ella, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Brent, Brock, Violet, Isla, and Oliver; siblings, Mary (Larry) Gerdes, Jackie Schweitzer, Ginny Enoch; sister-in-law, Sondra Strohecker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Butch; and her daughter-in-law, Denise Sawdey.
Visitation will be held at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Victor’s Catholic Church of Christ the King Pastorate, Monroe with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
