MONROE - At the end of 2014, the 18-month campaign to raise the necessary funds to build a new home for Green County EMS reached its goal of obtaining $1.5 million in donations and pledges for the new building.
Architectural work is in its final stages. The state must review and approve the plans, and if approved, plans to break ground will take place in the next six months, EMS Chief Dan Nufer said in a news release.
Green County EMS is a nonprofit organization comprised of two full-time emergency medical providers and about 60 volunteer EMTs and ambulance drivers.
The new EMS building will be located on 12th Street, across from the Monroe police and fire departments. It will feature a five-stall garage to house emergency vehicles, sleeping quarters for on-call crews and classroom and meeting space.
