MONROE — The Green County Fair returns next week, July 17-21. Many local favorite attractions return, like the Bulls and Barrels show, tractor pulls, demolition derby, livestock competitions and carnival rides, and there will be different performers every day to entertain crowds. Local vendors will have a variety of foods and other items for sale throughout the event as well.
Everything kicks off with Military Appreciation Day on July 17, with a Veteran’s-only dinner from 4-6 p.m. in the hospitality tent. The fair’s opening ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand, with the Bulls and Barrels show immediately following at 7 p.m.
Thursday, July 18 is Educator’s Appreciation Day, with the Badger State Tractor and Truck pulls starting at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstands. Frank Martin Busch & the Name will perform in the entertainment tent from 7-11 p.m.
First Responders Appreciation Day is July 19. The carnival will host it’s Special Needs Day from 10 a.m. to noon, allowing fair goers with special needs free carnival rides and parking. The Premier Exhibitor Competition will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the stock pavilion. The SWIRA Dirt Bike & 4-Wheeler races open with practice runs at 4:30 p.m. in front of the grandstand, with regular races starting at 6 p.m. Julia Nevel takes the stage in the entertainment tent at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 20 is Kid’s Day, with those 11-and-under gaining free admission to the grounds until 1:30 p.m. Regular admission for children, which otherwise costs $5 for a single day pass.
Along with the free admission, children are able to participate in the Pedal Pull in front of Exhibition Hall at 10 a.m. In front of the grandstands at 11 a.m. is the Tug-of-War competition, followed by the Green County Local Truck and Tractor Pull and Mini Rods at noon. The SW Wisconsin ATV/Garden Tractor Pullers will compete at 4 p.m.
Animal action on July 20 include the Fur and Feather Auction at 9:30 a.m. in the Mayer Transport Show Barn, with the Youth Livestock Auction will take place 30 minutes later, approximately around 12-12:30 p.m. The Masters Showman competition will take place in the same location at 5 p.m.
Music in the Entertainment Tent on Saturday includes music by Blue Smoothies at 4 p.m. and Eli Alger & The Faster Horses at 8 p.m. The night’s entertainment ends with a fireworks display in front of the grandstands at 9:30 p.m.
The final day of the fair, Sunday, July 21, is Pioneer Day, with $5 admission for anyone over the age of 65. The 4-H Graduation & Awards Ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. in the Entertainment Tent, with the 4-H Cake Auction immediately following at 11:30 a.m.
The Herdsmanship Results Presentation will be at noon in the stock pavilion. The annual Cheese Auction and Dairy Youth Auction will be held at 1 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent. Brew City All-Star Heavyweight Wrestling takes place in the Mayer Transportation Tent at 2 p.m.
The Antique Pull begins at 9 a.m. in front of the grandstands, with the Horse Pull at 10 a.m. Action in the grandstands is capped off with the annual Demolition Derby at 5 p.m.

Online ticket discount ends Monday
From now until July 15, purchasing Green County Fair tickets online will come at a discount. The fair runs from Wednesday, July 17 through Sunday, July 21.
Regular season passes will be $35 for adults, $10 for children 8-12, though by purchasing online before the fair, those prices drop to $30 and $8. Season passes for automobiles are $15. All children under 8 are free. Daily admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 8-12 and $5 for a vehicle.
Pit passes for the Badger State Tractor Pull on Thursday, July 18 is $15; $10 for the Friday local tractor pull; and $25 for the Sunday Demolition Derby.
There is also an advanced sale on carnival Mega Passes. Save $5 on the normal $70 cost by purchasing before 4 p.m. on July 18. Mega Passes must be picked up at the fair office before the fair.
Children that read a minimum of five books between the end of the school year and July 19 earn an extra $10 coupon towards a daily wristband at the carnival. This offer is for all students in grades 4K-12. One coupon per child. The summer reading program form is available on the Green County Fairgrounds website: greencountyfair.net. A completed form must be brought to the carnival ticket booth to receive the coupon.
