MONROE - An Illinois man was charged Monday in Green County Circuit Court with sexually assaulting a Belleville teen in 2014.

Jason D. Priest, 26, Capron, Illinois, faces two Class C felony counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and two Class D felony counts of child enticement.

Priest's charges arose after Department of Justice investigators discovered Facebook correspondence between him and the girl dating from 2014.

Within their conversations, investigators found sexually explicit messages and photographs from both parties. According to a police report, the girl said she told Priest her age before ever meeting him.

Priest first met the girl in person in December 2014, when Priest picked her up and drove her to the Brooklyn Wildlife Area. While there, the two drank whiskey and had sex in the backseat of Priest's truck.

Two days later, the two met at the same place and had sex again.

Priest's signature bond was set Monday at $9,000, with conditions that he not leave Wisconsin or Illinois without the court's permission. An additional $1,000 cash bond was set with identical conditions.

If found guilty, each of Priest's Class C charges carries a maximum possible sentence of 25 years in prison. His Class D charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison each.
