MONROE — Deputies have no suspects in a rash of recent vandalism on mailboxes at rural homes in the Exeter township, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.

In all cases, the mailboxes appeared to have been hit with a baseball bat or similar object, yet no obvious evidence left at the scene identified a suspect or suspects.

The first report of vandalism came at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday. Several mailboxes in the N9300 to N9600 blocks of County D appeared to have been hit, but all remained upright and attached to their posts.

About four-and-a-half hours later, deputies again responded to a report of vandalism, this time on two mailboxes in the W3400 and W3800 blocks of County W.

At about 6:30 p.m. Friday, vandalism was reported on yet another mailbox in the N9300 block of County D.

The sheriff's office is considering the vandalism cases closed, "pending new information or identification of suspects."
