MONROE - Monroe Arts Center presents the brilliant and outrageous theatrics of internationally acclaimed performer Tomas Kubinek at 7:30 p.m. April 2.

As a "certified lunatic and master of the impossible," Kubinek is a comic genius, virtuoso vaudevillian, and all-round irresistible charmer who has traveled the globe giving audiences a joyous experience they'll remember for a lifetime.

With appearances in more than 30 countries and a professional career spanning three decades, Kubinek has won the hearts of thousands in theaters, opera houses, television specials, on Broadway, and at international festivals of culture. In the past year he has appeared as the headline performer at the First International Congress of Fools in Moscow, has played to capacity crowds in a two-month tour across Italy and has performed a sold-out run at London's prestigious Royal Festival Hall Purcell Theater as the featured solo artist of the London International Mime Festival. His performances leave audiences clutching their sides with laughter, breathless, and madly in love with this master of whimsy.

Describing his show Kubinek said, "I'm a rare type of actor and comedian who uses every trick in the book to charm, transport, move, and elicit laughter from, an audience. The performance is unique and personal in that I am simultaneously author, director and performer in every moment being created before the public's very eyes. Most of my inspiration comes from constantly rediscovering what a miracle it is that we exist and how beautiful and fragile it all is."

Kubinek was 9 years old when he first performed for an audience. By age 13 he had an agent and was performing in coffee houses between folk-music acts. Working any and all jobs related to show business, the enterprising Kubinek was able to save money and travel to Europe to study with some of the world's greatest teachers of theater. These studies, combined with his own tireless experiments in the art of live performance, led to the creation of his award-winning solo stage shows.

Kubinek is the recipient of numerous international awards including the Moers Comedy Prize from the International Comedy Arts Festival in Germany, the Schneestern Award from the International Festival of Humor in Switzerland and the Samuel Beckett Theatre Award from the Dublin Theater Festival in Ireland.

Tomas Kubinek is a master of his craft who beautifully balances the absurd and the profound. His brilliant one-man show of absurd stories, death-defying experiments and spontaneous hilarity will be cherished by all in attendance for a lifetime.

Reserved-seat tickets are $25 and $20 for adults, and $10 for students 18 and under. Tickets may be purchased in person at the box office located at 1315 11th St., Monroe, by calling the Monroe Arts Center at 608-325-5700 or 888-596-1249, or online at www.monroeartscenter.com.
