MONROE — A man is fighting for his life at UW Hospital in Madison after a one-vehicle rollover crash on Dec. 21.
At approximately 12:36 p.m., a 911 call came into the Green County Sheriff’s Office dispatch about a rollover accident with ejection. According to Sheriff Cody Kanable, the vehicle was traveling on Wis. 81 near County M and Jordan Center Road when it left the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled over several times, ejecting the driver.
According to communication between first responders and dispatch, the driver had a face laceration and was conscious and moving, but unable to speak full sentences and relatively incoherent. The driver was then transported by ambulance to SSM Monroe Hospital and then re-routed to UW Hospital in Madison by Med Flight.
Kanable said the driver, whose name was withheld for the time being, faced life-threatening conditions. Investigation of the crash continued as of Dec. 22, and Kanable anticipated releasing more information on Dec. 23.
Green County EMS, Browntown Fire, Monroe Rural Fire and Green County Sheriff’s Office deputies were all dispatched to respond to the scene and close down the roadway.
