MONROE — Authorities still had not released the name of the 23-year-old Belleville man who died in a one car crash last Sunday morning — as of the newspaper’s Thursday deadline.

The crash happened on Feb. 9 at just before 1 a.m., officials said. That’s when the Green County Sheriff’s Office/Communication Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of English Settlement Road and Dunphy Road in the Town of Albany.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.

“Preliminary investigation determined a Ford Pickup Truck was southbound on English Settlement Rd where it proceeded through the yield-controlled intersection onto Dunphy Rd,” authorities said in a statement. “The vehicle traveled across Dunphy Rd where it collided with an embankment on the southside of road and traveled up a hill striking a bank of trees before coming to rest.”

The lone occupant of the vehicle was the Belleville victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies were assisted at the crash site by Albany Fire Department, Albany EMS, and the Green County Coroner’s Office.

“The investigation is ongoing at this time and more information will be released when available,” the sheriff’s office said.

This incident marks the third traffic fatality in Green County in 2025.
