Ulrika "Toots" Milestone, age 99 of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born November 23, 1909 in Unity, Clark County, WI, daughter of William and Anna (Mierke) Laabs. Toots attended school in Greenwood, WI. She was united in marriage to Clarence W. Milestone on February 25, 1929 in Rockford, IL. Toots lived and farmed in Fayette Township with her husband until 1946, when they moved to Shullsburg Township. In 1974, Clarence and Toots built their new home on the family farm. In 2000, she moved to Shullsburg to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Charles.
Toots is survived by seven children: Jerry Milestone of Shullsburg, Donna (Bill) Stratton of Ridgecrest, CA, Mary Ann Watson of Shullsburg, Ruth Ann (Tom) Galbreath of Springdale, AR, Karen Kay Orchard of Chandler, AZ, Randy (Scotti) Milestone of Charles City, IA, and Linda Rahn of Orlando, FL; one daughter-in-law: Dawne Milestone of Shullsburg; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Clarence; one son: Carroll Milestone; one daughter-in-law: Martha Milestone; three sons-in-law: John Orchard, Jerry Rahn, and Charles Watson; two granddaughters: Connie Watson and Melody Milestone; three brothers: Alfred, William, and Franklin Laabs; and four sisters: Leona Whitman, Lorinda Johnson, Mildred Reinke, and Margaret Laabs in infancy.
Toots was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington, WI. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and going out to eat. Toots loved crocheting and making blankets for the Linus Organization.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1302 Clay Street in Darlington, WI, with Rev. Carol Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington, WI. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg.
