MONROE/BRODHEAD - Roy R. Zentner, age 91, of Monroe, formerly of Brodhead, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. He was born on July 14, 1924 in Monroe, WI, the son of Fred and Bertha (Bandi) Staffacher Zentner. He married Louise M. Hauri on May 14, 1948 at the First Baptist Church, Albany, WI. She passed away on November 1, 2013.
Roy had farmed in Adams Township, Green County, WI, moving to Brodhead in 1992 and then to Monroe. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of VFW #2312 and Zilmer-Riley American Legion Post #84, both of Monroe. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe. Roy was an avid reader, enjoyed watching t.v., listening to country music, trips to Branson, MO, and riding his scooter.
He is survived by his daughter Connie (Brian) Cline; two sons, Curtis (Ruth) Zentner, Craig (Mary Jo) Zentner, all of Monroe; a sister, Corrine (Donald) Jacobson, Monroe; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Susie. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Cecil, Melvin, Gilbert, and two sisters, Evelyn Zentner and Florence Bahn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Rev. John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the funeral home.
