Robert M. "Bob" Makos

Robert M. "Bob" Makos, age 44 of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born April 6, 1965 in Monroe, WI, the son of Martin and Barbara (Anderson) Makos. Bob lived in the Argyle area all of his life. He graduated from Argyle High School in 1983. He farmed on the family farm with his parents in Argyle Township and later on his own around Argyle and Northern Illinois. Bob was united in marriage to Terri Fernstaedt on April 30, 1988 at Argyle Lutheran Church. In 1992, he moved back to Argyle where he farmed with his family and did custom round baling. In 1996, he started his carpentry career with RW Log Homes. He later worked for PCI Construction and most recently for Bruni Miller Construction of Monroe for the past nine years.

Bob is survived by his wife: Terri at home; his parents: Martin and Barb Makos of Argyle; Bob and Terri were blessed with two children: Kayci Lynn and Jason Robert Makos, both at home; three brothers: Jeff (Vicki) Makos of Monticello, WI, Eric (Jody) Makos of Juda, WI, and Kevin (Rae Ann) Makos of Argyle; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Michael and Sigrid Makos and Clarence and Sylvia Anderson.

Bob was a charter member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and listening to country music. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan and enjoyed deer hunting with his family. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 1540 Old Highway 81 in rural Argyle with Rev. Ron Brubakken, Rev. Dick Ewing, and Rev. Cal Schaver co-officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. A visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Cornerstone Lutheran Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

On June 7:

● At 11:21 a.m., officers arrested Lucas S. Rosslein, 45, of Monroe, at 17th Avenue and 11th Street, on a warrant issued by the Green County Sheriff’s Office for a child support case. Rosslein was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.

On June 14:

● At 5:37 p.m., officers were called to a one-vehicle versus sign accident, with no reported injuries, in the 1000 block of 16th Avenue. The investigation indicated that a vehicle southbound on 16th Avenue, operated by Cynthia L. Hughes (63), of Monroe, while pulling into a parking stall, drove over the curb and struck a street sign. The vehicle sustained minor damages, and the sign pole was also damaged. Hughes was cited for operating without a valid driver’s license, non-registration of a vehicle, and no vehicle insurance. Hughes was released pending a court appearance. 

● At 7:22 p.m., officers arrested Jasten C. Halvorson (25), of Brodhead, in the 2800 block of 6th Street, on a warrant issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole, for a probation violation. Halvorson was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.
