WARREN, Ill. - Monte A. Grebner, 72, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at his home in Warren, IL. He was born February 8, 1938 to Alvin and Berneice (Haeft) Grebner in Warren Township, IL. He married Nancy Trost on December 24, 1960. He worked as Department Supervisor at Atwood Automotive in Stockton for 35 years until retiring in 1996. He was very involved in scouting holding several positions; Assistant Scout Master, Scoutmaster, Assistant District Commissioner, District Commissioner and presently as a Unit Committee Chairman in Warren. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, Award of Merit and made Vigil honor in the Order of the Arrow. He was elected Citizen of the year in 1988 at the Warren Pumpkin Festival. He and Nancy were also awarded Honorary Parade Marshalls at the Warren Pumpkin Festival for 2010. Monte was a member of the Izaak Walton League in Benton, WI the chapter awarded him with the Tobin Award for starting the "IKES" Save Our Streams program working with the fifth and sixth graders and their science teachers from the Southwestern School District.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing along with environmental concerns. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, buckskinning and Indian history. He and Nancy went to schools and libraries to teach young people about the traditions and history of the Native Americans.Monte was currently a trustee for the Village of Warren. He was also a charter member of the Warren Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife; Nancy of Warren, IL; 3 Children; Mike (Mary) Grebner of Monroe, WI,

Karen (Larry) Koehler of Stoughton, WI, and Andy (Natalie) Grebner of Monroe, WI; Grandchildren; Janelle Koehler of Stoughton, WI, Katie Koehler of Lena, IL, Kristen Koehler of Stoughton, WI, Brad, Jake and Maddy Grebner all of Monroe, WI; Great-Grandchildren; JaKobe Mitchell of Lena, IL and Taylor Koehler of Stoughton, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and In Laws Bob and Thelma Trost.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:30 at the Warren United Methodist Church in Warren, IL

Visitation will held on Friday October 1, 2010 from 4:00 till 8:00 PM at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Officiating will be Pastor Yoshi Takahashi.

A memorial has been established in his name.
