Man arrested for selling morphine

MONROE - A Myrtyl, Mo., man was arrested following an investigation into drug activity at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in Twining Park.

Roy M. Lutz, 52, was arrested by the State Line Area Narcotics Team.

He was charged with felony delivery of a Schedule II narcotic, morphine, within a park; and felony possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II narcotic drug, morphine, within a park, according to Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley.

Lutz was jailed pending court.

The investigation by SLANT led to an alleged illegal drug transaction in the Monroe park, Kelley said. Lutz's vehicle was searched and morphine and cash were seized.

Kelley said the total amount of morphine seized from Lutz has a street value of about $3,500.

SLANT is a task force consisting of law enforcement personnel from the Illinois State Police; sheriff's departments from Green County; Stephenson County, Ill; and police departments from Monroe, Freeport, Loves park, Ill., and Rockford, Ill.
