John L. Murphy age 76 of Monroe, Wisconsin died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at his home. He was born January 4, 1934 at Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Wilbur and Louise (Howe) Gludt. John served in the U.S.Army from 1955 to 1957 and received the rank of PFC.

John and Darlene Pleshar were married on September 24, 1960 in Westmont, IL. John was a salesman for R.O.W. Window Company of Joliet, IL until retiring in 1985. He then purchased and ran Murphy's Depot in Monroe from June 1985 until July 2005. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene Murphy of Monroe WI; sons, David (Peggy) Murphy of Monroe, WI & Christopher (Sharon) Murphy of Wilmette, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Sophia, & Elizabeth; brothers, Michael (Helen) Murphy of Midlothian, IL & Charles (Patricia) Murphy of Aurora, IL; and sisters, Patricia (Thomas) Sieck of De Kalb, IL & Kathleen (Charles) Ore of Perrysburg, OH. He was predeceased by his father, Wilbur Gludt; mother, Louise Murphy; step-father, Lawrence Murphy; brothers, Harold Thomas Gludt & Thomas Murphy; and sister, Mary Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe with Fr. Michael E. Klarer Celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe and from 9:30 to time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, we request a donation be made in John's memory to the Apostolate To The Handicapped or the Monroe Clinic Hospice.
