Evelyn M. Lehman, age 81, of rural South Wayne, died on Sunday, November 27, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 9, 1935 in Monroe, the daughter of Morgan and Frieda (Lauper) Johnson.

Evelyn graduated from South Wayne High School in 1954 and Green County Teachers College in 1956.

Evelyn married Lawrence F. Berget, who preceded her in death in 1972, she later married Karl Lehman.

She was very musical, singing, played organ, piano, and was an organist for several churches throughout the area. She also taught all 8 grades in a one room school house and gave piano lessons for many years.

She was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Sweet Adeline's, Wiota Circle and many service organizations. She enjoyed cards, sewing, raised garden vegetables and sold them at the Monroe Farmers Market for many years. Spending time with family and friends, along with her faith, were most important to her.

She is survived by her husband, Karl, children, Crystal Berget, Curtis (Kimberly) Berget, Kerry Berget, Carmen Johnson, Corinne (William) Wartenweiler, Kevin (Suzanne Robertson) Berget; step-children: Mary Alice Fenneken, Diane Lehman, Dale (Betty) Lehman, Steve (Carol Baumgartner) Lehman, James Lehman; brother-in-law, Jack Monaghan, sister-in-law, Clarice Pehl, 31 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother, Norman Johnson, sisters-in-law, Patricia Johnson, Virginia Monaghan and Rosemary Lind, brothers-in-law, Donald Pehl and Sam Lind, great-grandchildren, Austin Blum, Elijah Yaun, Angel Yaun, Adelyne Long, and Daleaney Sue Phillips.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Jordan Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dennis Perger and Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Burial will follow at West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME in Monroe.

A memorial fund is being established in Evelyn's memory.
