Bruce Dean Brenizer, age 74 of Monroe, died from heart failure on Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home. He was born December 17, 1935 in Jackson, MI to Ted and Florence (Lee) Brenizer.
He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1957.
Bruce retired from Brock Equipment Co. in Crystal Lake, IL in 2001 and moved to Monroe.
He served as commander of the Crystal Lake American Legion for two years. He was an active member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754, Grace Lutheran Church, and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #84 serving as commander of the Legion Honor Guard.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Maritza (Kellen Wilson) Brenizer Maldonado; a son, Richard Brenizer; step-daughters, Chris (Jeff) Pfeiffer, Wendy (Al) Stefan, and Amy (Dennis) Blom; six step-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue (Tessendorf); step-daughter, Holly Feetterer; granddaughter, Jennifer Elder; brothers, Frank, Ted, and Wayne; and sisters, Esther, Vera Rauzi, June Baxter, and Donna Omo.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Monroe American Legion Post #84. Burial will be at a later date in Windridge Cemetery, Cary, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Mooseheart, Moosehaven, or the Monroe American Legion. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
