PECATONICA, Ill. — A police sergeant in Pecatonica Ill., has been arrested for number of charges including felonies following an investigation into his alleged conduct by Illinois State Police.
According to a statement, on July 13, 2022, Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 2 officials arrested Jeffrey Stacy, a 54-year-old Pecatonica Police Sergeant, and charged him with Electronic Harassment (a Class B Misdemeanor), 2 counts of Official Misconduct (Class 3 Felony), 2 counts of Intimidation (Class 3 Felony); and 2 counts of Disorderly Conduct (Class C Misdemeanor).
The probe was launched last March when the Chief of Pecatonica Police Department requested that Illinois State Police (ISP), Zone 2, to investigate multiple allegations of criminal conduct by an on-duty Pecatonica Police Sergeant.
It is unclear who the alleged victim or victims was in the incidents or whether the Stacy knew them.
An arrest warrant was issued on July 13, 2022 in Winnebago County for Stacy’s arrest, state police said. Stacy subsequently surrendered to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and he has since been released on a $50,000 bond.
