MONROE - On Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Green County Sheriff's Office 911 center received a call of a person pinned under a UTV along 30th Street, on the City of Monroe/Clarno Township border. Deputies, Monroe Police, Green County EMS and Monroe Rural Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, deputies located an overturned John Deere Gator UTV in the north ditchline along 30th Street, approximately 100 feet east of 17th Avenue (south of the Monroe High School). A lone adult male was extricated from beneath the UTV, medical treatment was begun and the driver was transported to The Monroe Clinic Hospital by Green County EMS for treatment of life threatening injuries. The victim, Patrick J. Davis, 68 of Monroe, later died as a result of his injuries.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Wardens were called to the scene to investigate the crash. Initial investigation revealed that the UTV had been traveling northbound on Jeffery Rd. in Clarno Township, left the roadway while attempting to negotiate a left hand curve onto 30th Street and overturned. It appeared that the driver was not wearing a safety harness or helmet. The driver's identity is not being released until relatives are notified.
The victim's identity will be released when relatives have been notified.
